Session 1 Studio Activities

BLIND CONTOUR DRAWINGS:

These one-minute drawings below are some of the objects, spaces, and snapshots of my college room. The blind sketches were done in a 2B pencil in which I enjoy because of its flexibility in the range of tones it can produce, helping emphasize shadow or foreground objects without having to look down on the page. I found the blind contour drawings to be an effective warmup to loosen my grip a little and care less about the realism of the drawing but more of the atmosphere and feeling that it creates.

The room is small and quaint, with objects placed very close to each other, making the space quite cosy. 



INTERIOR SKETCHES:

Below is a refined sketch of the room in both pencil and pen. Starting the drawing in pencil allows me to capture the essence of the view quickly, utilising techniques from blind contour drawing. Then I went over the base sketch with a series of fine liners. Firstly, highlighting significant structures and perspective lines with a 0.8mm fine liner, then switching to a
